 | The Distinguished Flying Cross, awarded 5 Aug 1968 Citation to accompany the award:
Lieutenant Colonel Edwin A. Seitz distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-123 Aircraft Commander at Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam on 22 March 1968. On that date, Colonel Seitz flew an extremely dangerous low level aerial resupply mission to airdrop medical supplies to the United States Marine unit at the beseiged base of Khe Sanh. Despite intense hostile fire and unfavorable weather conditions Colonel Seitz flew the aircraft through a precision airdrop which placed the medical supplies in the hands of friendly forces. With unwavering calmness and courage Colonel Seitz skillfully flew his aircraft in such a manner so as to allow successful completion of the mission. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Seitz reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. |
